Xiaomi Redmi 5A With 8-Day Battery Life Launched: Specs, Features& More

Xiaomi launched its ultra-affordable phone, the Redmi 5A.It is successor to the Redmi 4A, which retains much of its predecessor’s hardware set as also its ultra-affordable price tag. The Redmi 4A is currently the most affordable smartphone in Xiaomi’s Redmi-range in 2017 in India. Redmi 5A keeps much of the core hardware of the Redmi 4A intact but comes with a smaller battery. Xiaomi however claims the Redmi 5A can offer up to 8-days of battery life on single charge.

The Redmi 5A will run MIUI 9 out-of-the-box which means that the handset will come with all bells and whistles of the new MIUI version. The new MIUI version features include Smart assistant, Smart app launcher, Image search, Quick reply and notification management, new Home screen enhancements, Lock screen enhancements, and split screen multitasking among others.

In terms of Specifications, The Redmi 5A sports a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) display. Much like the Redmi 4A, the successor. Xiaomi, only recently, launched the Redmi 5A in two variants in China. While the lower-end version of the Redmi 5A is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor clubbed with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, the top-end version comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor clubbed with 3GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage.Both the versions come with a support of expandable storage of up to 128GB by using a dedicated micro-SD card slot.

Coming to the camera, both the versions come with a 13-megapixel rear facing camera. But while the 2GB RAM version of the phone has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, the 3GB RAM version of comes with a 16-megapixel front facing camera with LED flash.Connectivity options on the Redmi 5A include 4G with VoLTE, 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Micro-USB. The dual-SIM Redmi 5A is powered by a 3000mAh battery.

As per reports, Xiaomi Redmi 5A price will be like the lower-end version will be available for RMB 699 (which roughly translates to Rs 6,719 the top-end version of the phone will cost buyers RMB 899 (which roughly translates to Rs 8,644). and the handset will be available for pre-orders starting Monday in China. It will be available via the company’s official site as well as other popular e-commerce sites in China.
