Sony Xperia XA2, XA2 Ultra & L2 Launched: Look at its Specs, Features & More

Sony has launched their new Xperia series smartphones of the year, the Xperia XA2, Xperia XA2 Ultra and Xperia L2 at the Consumer Electronics Show 2018 in Las Vegas. Both Xperia XA2 and Xperia XA2 Ultra are selfie centric smartphones which are upgraded versions of last year’s XA1 and XA1 Ultra.

The Sony Xperia XA2 and Xperia XA2 Ultra both sport a design that is composed of anodised aluminium sides and a diamond-cut finish on the top and bottom. Unlike the current trend in the mid-range options, the new Xperia XA2 range doesn’t have a full-screen, thin-bezel display. However, there is a rear-facing fingerprint sensor to match the trend which is one of the biggest design changes in these new devices were the previous Sony smartphones that were debuted with a fingerprint sensor-embedded, side-located power button.

Now, let us check out the specifications of these new Smartphones.

The Sony Xperia XA2 features a 5.2-inch full-HD (1920×1080 pixels) display that is protected with a Corning Gorilla Glass panel. The Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra, on the other hand, has a 6-inch full-HD display. The XA2 and XA2 Ultra are powered by the much more sensible and powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor. The XA2 comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage while the XA2 Ultra has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Both smartphones storage can be further expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card. Both these new devices are said to comes with Android Oreo.

Now about the camera part, both XA2 and XA2 Ultra come with a 23MP primary camera on the rear. The camera sensor has hybrid autofocus and supports 4K video recording in addition to the company’s proprietary Steady Shot functionality. Up front, the XA2 comes with a single 8MP fixed-focus camera and the XA2 ultra sports a duel camera of 8MP sensor with a secondary 16MP wide-angle sensor with optical image stabilisation. The Ultra also has a dedicated selfie flash.

In connectivity options, Sony has provided 4G LTE in addition to options such as FM radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C port on both the new smartphones. The smartphones have dual-SIM and single-SIM versions. Further, the Xperia XA2 packs a 3300mAh battery, whereas the Xperia XA2 Ultra has a 3580mAh battery. Both support Qnovo Adaptive Charging and Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technologies apart from Sony’s proprietary Smart Stamina mode.

Alongside the Xperia XA2 and Xperia XA2 Ultra, Sony also had unveiled a budget smartphone, the Xperia L2 which comes with a 5.5-inch HD display, the same Snapdragon 630 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded via a microSD card and a 3,300mAh battery. On camera front, it comes with a wide-angle 8MP sensor at the front paired with a 13MP rear camera. The Xperia XA2 has Silver, Blue, Black, and Pink colour variants. On the other hand, the Xperia XA2 Ultra is available in Silver, Blue, Black, and Pink colour variants.
