Raazi film is set during the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971, based on Harinder Sikka’s novel Calling Sehmat. Sharing the trailer to the fans, Alia wrote, “Watan ke aage kuch nahi!!!! (Nothing comes before the nation)”. Raazi is Sehmat’s story of sacrifice and producer Karan Johar describes it in just the right words, “The story of an ordinary girl in extraordinary circumstances!”

In this more than two minutes long trailer, it begins with Hidayat formulating a master-plan to send Sehmat to Pakistan as a spy for India, she is briefed about her mission. Now, we find a naive Sehmat (Alia) transforms into an Indian spy on the order of her father (Rajit Kapur) and gets married to a Pakistani officer Iqbal (Vicky Kaushal) with a mission. Soon in the trailer, Sehmat appears as a new bride, residing with her in-laws and husband Iqbal in Pakistan.

As a wife, her chemistry with Kaushal is impressive and the way Alia looks straight into his eyes, makes you believe in their love story. But as a Kashmiri spy, she is strong, well trained and knows her job well as she collects information in adverse circumstances. Certain glimpses of Alia in the trailer may reveal that Sehmat appears to be in a dilemma while simultaneously carrying out her duties as a wife and a spy but soon she sets her priorities straight with a dialogue “Watan ke aage kuchh nahi, khud bhi nahi.” The trailer ends with Sehmat pointing a gun at her husband Iqbal while tears roll down her cheeks.

Raazi, directed by Meghna Gulzar and co-produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles. This Indian period thriller is scheduled to hit theatres on May 11.
