Oppo Find X with Camera Slider and 3D Face Unlock Launched

Finally, Oppo has launched its flagship smartphone, Oppo Find X. This new smartphone’s main highlight is its unique motorised camera slider that pops in and out from the top automatically. There are few other key features on this new Oppo Find X, that includes a Snapdragon 845 SoC, 8GB of RAM, and 3D facial scanning. The Oppo Find X comes in two colour variants, that includes Bordeaux Red and Glacier Blue. This flagship smartphone will be made available from August this year.

Let us look at the design and features of this new smartphone by Oppo in detail:

This new Oppo Find X comes in a nice shiny metal back with curved edges, and no camera sensors will be visible normally. Instead, whenever you open or close the camera app in the phone, there is a motorised slider with camera’s that opens and closes automatically. This phone has a bezel-less display with a small chin.

Speaking about the slider, it consists of a dual camera setup at the rear side, and a single front camera. The company claims that, the camera slider has been tested over 300,000 times for durability. This slider is also important to unlock the device because this phone does not have a fingerprint scanner. Instead, Oppo has introduced a unique facial scanning technology on this Find X, which they call it as the O-Face Recognition. This tech is enabled by a 3D Structured Light Technology that the company claims has never been used on any Android smartphone. This technology uses 15,000 facial dot recognition and intelligent analysis to read a face. It also comes with an IR sensor that lets O-Face work in the dark as well. So, to unlock the device you need to turn the phone on and swipe on the lock screen, after that the camera slider comes up to scan your face. The company claims that this O-Face Recognition is 20 times safer than fingerprint recognition in order to unlock the phone.

Additionally, the Find X comes with Oppo’s AI-assisted sensor that brings animated 3D emojis, similar to that you see on the iPhone X. The company is calling it as 3D Omoji, and it will let you choose a funny image or create a personal cartoon image to mimic your facial expression in real time.

The Oppo Find X sports a 6.42-inch (1080×2340 pixels) full-HD+ AMOLED display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 93.8 percent screen-to-body ratio, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 845 SoC with Adreno 630 GPU and 8GB of RAM. This device packs a 256GB internal storage, which is not expandable via microSD card. This latest dual-SIM (Nano+Nano) support phone runs on ColorOS 5.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.

Coming to the camera department, the Oppo Find X features a camera slider that has a dual camera setup on the rear side, that sports a 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 20-megapixel secondary sensor with LED flash. This phones duel sim camera setup comes with features, that include AI portraits and AI Scene Recognition technology. Up front, it features a 25-megapixel sensor foe selfies and face unlock. The AI-enhanced 3D Camera is packed with a 3D lighting techniques and filters for artistic portraits.

In terms of connectivity, this smartphone includes USB-Type C port, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 5 LE, and GPS. The Oppo Find X is fuelled by a 3730mAh battery with VOOC fast charging support.
