Nokia 5 with 3GB RAM launched: Check out for the Price, Specs & More

The Nokia 5, which was announced a few months ago, slots in between the Nokia 3 and the Nokia 6 in Nokia’s smartphone line-up.The Nokia 5 was launched in August but had just 2GB of RAM, which disappointed the public and Nokia fans. To make up for the disappointment, Nokia has added an extra gigabyte of RAM and launched a 3GB RAM variant of the Nokia 5.

Apart from extra RAM, the new Nokia 5 variant is identical to the original 2GB RAM model. To people who are not aware of Nokia 5 specifications, it sports a 5.2-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS LCD display with 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC coupled with 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 16GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. The dual-SIM (Nano) smartphone runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box but an upgrade to Android Oreo is promised. The Nokia 5 comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF and dual-tone flash. On the front side, it has an 8-megapixel autofocus camera and an 84-degree field-of-view. Coming to the connectivity options, itincludes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, FM radio with RDS, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB with OTG, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Sensors on board include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, and proximity sensor. This smartphone is fuelled by a 3000mAh battery that’s non-removable.

As far as the cost of this new variant is concerned, Nokia 5 3GB RAM variant is priced in India forRs. 13,499. The smartphone will be available exclusively on Flipkart for one week which starts from Tuesday, November 7. After this online exclusivity period, on November 14, the Nokia 5 is said to be available to buy via selected retail outlets across the country. The new variant will be available in Matte Black and Tempered Blue colours.

HMD Global also recently announced the Nokia 2, which is the company’s cheapest Android smartphone to date. If the reports are correct, the estimated price will come to Rs 6,999. In this price range, Nokia 2 is set to compete against the Xiaomi Redmi 4A, Redmi Y1 Lite and the Moto C Plus as and when it launches in India.
