WhatsApp will also have a verified account with a green tick for business profiles, and the company confirmed this newsin a blogpost. The WhatsApp Verified account will have a green tick next to it, similar to the verified accounts on Facebook, Twitter& Instagram, where you have a blue tick next to the verified account. WhatsApp’s new feature is said to be rolling out soon.

The Facebook-owned company’s blogpost reads, “WhatsApp is exploring ways for you to communicate with the businesses that matter to you. So, let’s see how this feature works. WhatsApp says it will let users know about this when they start talking to a business via yellow messages inside a chat. Also, company says users will not have the option of deleting these messages from inside the chat with a verified business. In case you don’t have a business phone number stored in your address book, you will see the name that the business has chosen for itself inside the app. Also, in case you don’t want any business to bother you on WhatsApp, you will have the option to block them, just like blocking other contact. The Facebook-owned company has clarified that WhatsApp business verification is currently limited to a small number of businesses participating in a pilot program.

In another post by WABetaInfo, which first spotted this feature, has pointed out that with the release of 2.17.285 version of the Android beta app, the way in which users can view a business account and the information that is available, has been revealed. As per the report, WhatsApp has updated its servers to improve the synchronisation of your contact numbers. In case there is a business contact in your address book, it reportedly will not download that contact again. it also mentions that the new Business Info section, which can be seen in the image above, will come with information like the address of the business, the real name of the business, the mail address of the business, and its website. In case the business has an account on Instagram, you will also be presented with the link of that profile as well.

The Facebook-owned company, WhatsApp that has already confirmed that it will work on bringing businesses to the app, and essentially users will soon be able to interact with their bank, airline, etc from within the app. The new feature means WhatsApp could strengthen itself against SMS further, especially in a market like India where it has 200 million monthly active users.
