Instagram Verified Blue Tick: Now you can get your account Verified with this new option

The Facebook-owned image or video sharing social network, Instagram rolled out an option to fight duplicity by authenticating high-profile accounts. A blue tick on your social media handle can help you in a long way towards people following you. Or perhaps you’d just want one as a sign of authenticity. Either way, Instagram is now letting you to get the verification mark with a simple application from within the app.

Instagram as part of new security measures is now letting anyone and everyone request a verification check, as long as they can prove their identity. If successful, your handle on the app will also show the blue check mark, no matter how big or small your following. Notably, making it easier to apply doesn’t mean it’s easier to get verified.

Here’s how you can apply for verification of your account:

Just click on the settings menu in the app and look for a new tab called ‘Request Verification’. All you have to do there is enter your Instagram handle, name, and a photo ID proof. Supposedly even a business document like a tax filing form will do. Once Instagram has reviewed your request, you’ll receive a notification confirming or declining your request in the notifications tab.

However, at present this new option seems to be visible only in iOS, but not yet in Android, so give it some time to roll out globally.

Additionally, another tool announced by the app is the new ‘About” page for accounts. This page will list out the date they joined Instagram, the country listed during registration, their former usernames, and so on. Currently, this feature is rolling out to major influencers, but it will soon follow to the rest of the global users.
