Thalaivar Rajinikanth’s upcoming movie ‘2.0’ will have its digital premiere on Amazon Prime Video India. Other than Rajinikanth, the movie, also has Bollywood star Akshay Kumar in the role of the antagonist. After this deal, the video streaming site said the mega-budget sci-fi film will be made available in its library soon. According to a statement, the subscribers of Amazon prime Videos will be able to watch the film in multiple languages such as Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.

The video-streaming platform has been giving an aggressive push to expand its services in India by acquiring rights for major film titles in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and other regional languages. Vijay Subramaniam, Director, Content, Amazon Prime Video, said, “With this momentous deal, Amazon Prime Video further enhances its robust Bollywood and regional content library. Amazon Prime Video is happy to join hands with Lyca Productions for the exclusive streaming rights for this mega blockbuster film. Both, Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar are phenomenal actors with an unbelievable fan following that will soon get the chance to stream the sequel of Rajnikanth’s memorable movie on their favourite streaming device,” he added.
2.0 is the sequel to the 2010 blockbuster Ethiran, directed by Shankar, 2.0 is claimed of being made on huge budget of Rs 400-450 crores. 2.0 also stars Amy Jackson in the lead role and Sudanshu Pandey, Adil Hussain, and Kalabhavan Shajohn as the supporting cast. Academy award-winning composer A R Rahman has composed the music for this movie, which is said to be India’s most expensive film.
Earlier this year, the makers of 2.0 sold the satellite rights of the film’s all versions, including Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, to Zee TV. Which is said to be the biggest deal in the history of satellite deals. This was also the highest revenue produced by a regional film.
